Groundhog Day

The celebrations of another New Year are now a month old. Where are you at in creating the new you, the new success, the new resolutions about which you were so excited only a few weeks ago?
It’s curious to me that (at least in the U.S.) we celebrate Groundhog Day about one month after the New Year. For those of you who are on track with your personal and business resolutions, congratulations and let me wish you continued progress and success.
For those of you that this year may be starting to look like a repeat of last year, let me encourage you to reevaluate your opportunity for renewal and advancement of your goals and dreams in 2015. Let’s be candid with each other. Success is never a straight line from where you are to where you aspire to grow. There’s a good reason that triumph can be looked at as two words: “try” and “umph.” Tryumph!
Last year Proforma achieved its best year ever—$420 million in sales and hopefully our first $500 million year this year. Last year—and I am sure this year—on our way to our goals, please know that we hit some set-backs, speed bumps and disappointments. The key to success is not avoiding set-backs, speed bumps and disappointments. Rather the key to success is working through set-backs, speed bumps and disappointments, keeping your focus squarely on your goals and persevering no matter what.
Let me wish you a happy Groundhog Day. It’s not about whether the groundhog saw it’s shadow, it’s about you continuing to see and stay focused on your goals and working through the set-backs, speed bumps and disappointments.
